We visited this customer to remove his existing dash cameras from a Porsche 911 and Tesla Model S to then fit the very latest 2.5k Resolution niche discrete Goluk dashcam.
Whilst removing his cameras we noticed there had been some damage on the Tesla, broken trims and also a hole had been drilled in the boot with the rear camera cable running through the newly drilled hole.
Having installed to hundreds of Tesla vehicles, we know there is no need to drill any holes whatsoever, the customer was obviously shocked as he wasn't informed about this at the time.
2.5k resolution front and rear T2s cameras were installed to the Tesla, providing 24/7/365 coverage with hardly any impact to the range and main lithium Tesla pack (The cameras use the equivalent of around 3 miles in a month, as oppose to Tesla's own "Sentry Mode" that zaps your battery).
The customer was very satisfied with the security cameras on the Tesla and he was impressed at how simple and easy it was to quickly download the footage direct to his iPhone and iPad.
All wires were totally hidden and run alongside existing vehicle wiring looms, we aim for the best aesthetically pleasing look that almost looks like a factory install. The rear camera cable was also run along existing routes and fed neatly within the existing rubber boot grommet.
We like to fit dashcams so that the user doesn't know they are there yet they can be accessed instantly using the smartphone phone app if required enabling instant fast video download.
The Porsche 911 had a single front T2s 2.5k camera fitted with hardwire kit directly to the spare fuse slots.
This replaced a Nextbase camera with a screen that had been installed to the left of the rear view mirror (in the drivers view) whereas with the T2's being small and discrete despite having 4 times the resolution of the nextbase, was totally hidden and no display to distract you whilst you're driving!
Although both cars were hardwired, the installs are fully reversible with zero damage. They can then be transferred into the next vehicle proving the investment in cameras to be worthwhile, especially when customers have been telling us that they have had up to 20% off their vehicle insurance due to having cameras professionally fitted.
A selection of our dashcam models have built in vehicle 12 volt battery monitoring that is fully customisable from within the app and some cameras, we fit our very own designed Tornado hardwire kit. This means when parked, the dashcam is powered off when your 12 volt aux battery maintains enough power to start your car again (or in an EV's case, power up your display and start the systems up). The dashcam battery monitor allows the camera to monitor your vehicle and its surroundings whilst parked. Should your vehicle be hit whilst parked or someone were to "key" your vehicle, as long as there is sufficient power in your 12 volt battery, the camera's will record the incident. A great feature for electric vehicles that automatically top up their 12v battery whilst parked.
